Fire Apple

my palomino coat was hidden my some silver gums and no track was left behind me when i walked. i heard men not far behind me which sent me galloping off and i was very careful were i put my hooves. i came up to a large rock which i might have to jump up on. i looked back and than i walked back wards not caring were they went, then galloped forwards and leaped up and called out my challenge to the humans before galloping off to hide in a small stone cave.

Brolga would be coming soon, as I was on the area of the river he grazed on. I sighed and leapt across, splashing trought quickly. Hearing a tame horses shoe on rock I leapt into action, spotting the mare they were after.

The men seemed to pause as they heard my stallion cry and I leapt into their view, tearing their attention from the palomino mare.

i heard a stallions cry and knew i would be safe were i was. i looked out and then walked around the stones carefully to get back in to the trees. i got to the trees and looked around than hid there my chocolate brown eyes looking around for danger if there should be. i head a shoed hoof and i stood still and watched them go past thanking that they had no dogs.

I knew that the Brolga could not come here at me, seeing as I was on my own lan, unless he wanted a fight. Seeing the dogs, I leapt down from where I was, blocking the cave from them and kicked as the dogs appeared within reach. The dogs ran for it after i had kicked each one of them a few times.

I reared and screamed. "I am Thowra! Catch me if you can!" This was a challenge I was giving to the men. One of them shouted and though the dogs were going in the opposite direction both of them came for me.

I snorted, droping onto all fours and cantering off, knowing they stood no chance.

i galloped back the way i had come then slowed. i looked around and smiled "so thowra is the stag helping me out" i said to myself. i moved on than stopped and listened to the sounds of humans horses and smiled time to start to get away i thought than got myself were i wanted to be and galloped off than jumped as i came upon a large stone. i landed nicely than moved on jumping from rock to rock till i was high up so the dogs could not find me.

She would see me again, if I wanted her to. It did not take me long to deal with the men, i knew area that they would easily lame in, while a wild horse would not seeing as we were born able to move in this territory.

I smiled though as I trotted in silence through the bush, searching for her trail. Did not take me long though I had to avoid The Brolga's territory.

The dog had gone after her, but they did not even get close before they saw me and bolted. I smiled and then trotted where she was, appearing out of no where. "They will trouble you no more, madam."

i looked down at a dog which i was about to jump on when it ran off and the stag named thowra came up "thanks for your help and i highly doubt they will stop" i said and thought back a bit and how last week i had jump out of a holding yard. i looked around to make shore they were gone and smiled.

I laughed. "After I just lamed their horses? I doubt they will try and come after me again. It will be days before they think about that again. Where were you going?"

I smiled at her though. "Plus I know how to deal with dogs, it was me that they ran from."

i looked at him "they are the same people who caught me last week i think they will be back" i said and than lowered my head before bring it back "i was getting away from that holding yard they had me in" i moved my feet so my prints did not show. "dogs i am fine with my self and will jump upon one with out a thought they leave me alone most of the time" i looked at the other cream.

"If you wanted, you could join me for a while, at least until Spring has passed. Then you could be on your way, whereever you were running to. I only happened to be coming past at the right time and you are on the part of this river that borders my territory."

i looked at him i was fine at the moment and i did not mind being caught from time to time but what i did not like was when other horses thought i was unable of looking after my self "yes i will stay with you but not for long for i must see if i can find a way to be rid of these few humans that come after me every chance they get" i said than looked around and flicked my tail then thought i might be better off leaving now and hiding until the winter.

"As long as you tell no one of it, there is a place I found that you will e completely safe while the men are here. I wont be there constantly, as I have my life out here teasing them, since none have ever managed to rope me, but this hiding place, men cannot get to for they are without the knowledge of its entire existence."

i looked at him "i would tell no one beside i like teasing them my self that includes getting caught alot but i don't mind i can jump out they never think that i am going to jump it right in frount of there eyes" i said than shut my eyes to listen around me and smiled as a dog bark a long way off knowing that they were going away from here for now.

"In unfamiliar country it is not wise to test fate. I know you're not from around you, else i would have called you by your name already. there are hidden pitfalls and things here, that only those used to the place know about and can avoid. Wouldn't want to get hurt would you?"

i sighed " well i would not fall and it helps that my dad was breed to jump" i said "my name is fire apple and no i am not from around here but my mother was she was caught in a round up a few years ago and so on " i looked at him and sighed again here was another who thought i could not take care of myself.
